Jürgen Dieter Paul Schmude (born June 9, 1936) is a German politician of the Social Democratic Party of Germany. He was born in Insterburg East Prussia, Germany, (now Chernyakhovsk, Russia).
Schmude was a member of the German Parliament, the Bundestag, from 1969–94. From 1978–81 he was German Minister for Education and Science and also German Minister of Justice from 1981–82. He was also Minister of the Interior for a short time in 1982.
